"There is no risk, there will be no risk": Sheinbaum rules out a strike at Pemex over debts to suppliers

MEXICO CITY (apro) .- President Claudia Sheinbaum acknowledged that part of the payment to Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) suppliers has yet to be covered, but ruled out a risk to the state-owned company's operations.
After the Mexican Association of Petroleum Service Companies (Amespac) warned of a strike in the oil sector starting in July due to Pemex's accumulated debts exceeding 404 billion pesos in the first quarter of 2025, the president reported that 147 billion pesos of the debt have been paid this year alone.
"There's still one part missing, and the mechanism and the instruments that have been worked on between the Treasury and Pemex are already in place," he said.
“We are in production, there is no risk, there will be no risk.”
